The acquisition of basic skills in dealing with sources and literature, especially in ancient history.

In this course, we will deal with the political and social structure of the polis Sparta (with focus on manliness and femininity). On a more general level, the course is meant to be an introduction to the sources, methodological approaches, and tools in ancient history.

Combination of lecture, guided reading, short presentations and group work.

Exercises, participation, written paper.

Relevant literature will be announced during the course.
