Critical analysis of historical sources and reconstructions based on them; writing of a short paper; development of analytical perspectives and own critical points of view.

Ancient greek history is going to be outlined from its beginnings and progentiors up until its establishment as an independent genre and its advancement during the Hellenism.

The most important protagonists are going to be presented using parts of their original writing. Those sourced ought to be analysed critically to serve as an introduction to the work of a historian. Fundamental principals like critical assessment of sources, evaluation of written records and "Topik" are going to be dealt with.

Combination of lecture, reading tasks and exercises.

Evaluation of exercises and participation in discussions, reading tasks and the short paper.

Literature will be announced in class.
