Reading and discussion of research literature; understanding of different paradigms and patterns of interpretation; reflections on the academic and public purpose of History

 

The course is an introduction into the methods and key concepts of History. We will analyse central texts and understand the development of theoretical debates and historical reflections from the late 19th century to recent research. We will discuss theoretical approaches by studying e.g. historicism, social history and cultural history and explore the conceptual “turns” in the postmodern humanities.
