703064 PS Computer Architecture
summer semester 2020 | Last update: 15.06.2020 | Place course on memo listThe learning objectives are to understand the fundamental concepts of computer engineering and be able to apply them in practice. Students graduating from this course understand the basic principles of computer architecture and the design of modern computer sytems. They can program in assembly language and evaluate modern computer systems..
The objective of this course is to gain first insights into the field of computer engineering. Topics of primary interest are the fundamentals of digital computers, concepts of digital circuts, computer arithmetics, and microprocessor systems. The accompanying proseminar discusses selected topics in more detail.
- Design, structure, and functioning of digital circuits
- Architecture principles and organization of modern computer hardware (e.g., microprocessor and multicore systems)
- Interaction of hardware and software
- Machine-oriented programming, e.g., on the ARM architecture
- Approches for evaluation and comparison of components and systems (memory, I/O, performance metrics)
This bachelor class is taught in German. Almost all course material is available in German. The class splits into a lecture and a proseminar.
For the summer semester the lecture is comprised of the recordings taken during the winter semester.
These will be made available to all PS participants via LMS.
In the summer semester the PS is only intended for participants of the Erweiterungsstudium Informatik.
The course is a continuous assessment course.
