The course addresses approaches and methods used to plan and analyze Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) from the user’s point of view. We will learn approaches to user interface design, present techniques for evaluating interface usability as part of the design process, and we will demonstrate evaluation methods of interactive computer and information systems. The course incorporates theoretical materials and examples of concrete design as implemented in numerous systems.

• Understand the issues related to the evaluation, design, implementation and use of interactive computer systems, focusing on the users of these systems.
• Introduction to the general approaches to the evaluation of usability.
• Learn advanced topics in Human-Computer Interaction.
• Practice the methods and tools learned in this course for evaluating and designing interactive computer systems. The course includes, among other topics: theories and guidelines of designing interactive human-computer systems; Basic principles of the human information processing system; approaches to the evaluation and design of interactive systems; Interaction methods and styles in hardware and software; guidelines for the user interface design of mobile devices; new directions in the research and design of HCI.
