Knowledge and critical understanding of the central contents of the works of the authors mentioned.

Independent further development of one of these thoughts with regard to own questions and qualification work.

The writings of Slavoj Zizek, Ernesto Laclau and Judith Butler influence the current debates in the humanities and cultural studies on a large scale. Precisely because of their complexity they can contribute to an understanding of the current global political situation.

The seminar aims to provide an introduction to their work by explaining philosophical points of reference (especially Marx, Althusser, Foucault, Freud and Lacan are to be mentioned here), without the understanding of these points their work remains difficult to access; on the other hand, points of reference between the authors are to be established and common and different positions on central questions are to be worked out. Finally, current problems of the present will be analysed with the authors, especially the question of right-wing populism (and the question of whether left-wing populism can be an answer to this); the question of the social construction of sexes; the question of "sustainable" consumption and the question of interpellation by the great Other.
