The students will acquire conceptual knowledge in relation to different cognitive requirements and become familiar with options to react appropriately to meet the resulting needs. They are able to develop and foster concepts that aid the development of cognitive development processes.

The course enables a fundamental examination of concepts and primary ideas of inclusive education, which aim to support the cognitive learning requirements of students appropriately.

Based on an analysis of the importance of cognitive development for learning, the educational assumptions about open development are discussed, future- and development-oriented concepts for cognitive development processes, which require additional support, are presented and their application is discussed in the seminar. The course emphasises the importance of adequate, support concepts and appropriate parameters for students that require additional support (e.g. due to autism or trisomy 21) in inclusive secondary education.

The advantages of working in multi-professional and interdisciplinary teams and the interconnectivity with external agencies are emphasised, alongside the importance of cooperation with parents and legal guardians.

Theoretical Input, interactive dialogues and a discursive interaction with the contents of the course.  Cooperative learning will be applied in various formats.

The course utilizes continuous assessment. The assessment is based on oral, written and practical performance. The construction of individual plans and concrete materials to support a specific student, alongside a presentation of one’s results.
