winter semester 2020/2021 | Last update: 19.08.2020 | Place course on memo listThe students are able to analyse the different Protestant interpretations of the Lord’s Supper and the eastern and Catholic interpretations of the Eucharist.
The Eucharist is the sacrament of unity. It is, however, a reason for disunity and delineation, too. Different interpretations of the Lord's Supper will be treated, and also the significance which the various Christian denominations assign to the Eucharist as well as how the relation of Eucharist and ecclesiology can be defined.
Lecture.
Oral examination. Subjects are the subjects of lecture, and own study of: 1. the chapter Eucharist of the Faith and Order paper no. 111, Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry, and 2. the Catholic response to the chapter Eucharist in: Sekretariat der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz (Hrsg.), Sekretariat für die Einheit der Christen: Eine katholische Stellungnahme zu den Konvergenzerklärungen der Kommission für Glauben und Kirchenverfassung des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen Taufe, Eucharistie und Amt, Nr. 79, Bonn 1987.
