The course aims to provide a critical understanding of the dynamics on which biolaw moves, also in connection with bioethics, in a plurality of significant systems and contexts.

The course will cover, among others, the object and sources of biolaw, the relationship with bioethics, issues related to consensus, end-of-life, early-life, genetics, and artificial intelligence.

The didactics is designed to highlight and deal with problematic aspects of the subject, also in order to train students to develop a critical approach. Students will be urged to intervene in the discussion of the subject in order to learn to rely on their own ability to reasoned exposure and critical reading of the study materials.

Oral examination (or written examination if so recommended by the Covid-19 containment measures), aimed at ascertaining the ability to critically process issues of biolaw and bioethics; mnemonic repetition of the study material is considered insufficient to pass the examination.

Carlo Casonato, Introduzione al biodiritto (Giappichelli), last edition.

With reference to students' interests, specific cases and materials will be indicated and made available digitally (OLAT) on which the study will be required for a reasoned discussion in class.
