§ 7 (1) 9. a. VO Electoral Analysis (2 / 3.5)
Students are able to evaluate and apply the theoretical and empirical instruments of electoral analysis, i.e. psephology. They can identify central theories and models of the behavior of participants, on both the supply and demand side, and of the media. Students are able to analyze specific research questions.

The lecture course covers theories in electoral research, their methodological approaches and provides an overview of research findings. The course covers traditional theoretical approaches in election research including social structure, rational choice, party identification, concepts and methods from political psychology and (quasi-) experimental research.
