Participants learn about interdisciplinary approaches in the field of tension between media, data and politics as well as the basics of data criticism.

The lecture series includes in-depth contributions to the topic of the Media Day 2020 on the topic "DataPolitics - Media, Data & Politics". The originally high expectations of the democratizing effects of the Internet have long since vanished. Today, dystopian future scenarios seem to dominate - "Big brother is watching you! The COVID 19 pandemic has, among other things, highlighted the ambivalence inherent in data-based technologies for controlling social processes. Accordingly, the event will focus on critical-reflexive perspectives of data use. Detailed information will be available in the syllabus at https://wiki.uibk.ac.at/medienpaedagogik/Hauptseite.


Invited lectures, plenary discussions, active participation in the media day event. 

Active participation in the lecture and written essay about a specialization topic considering the discussions in the course, current discourses as well as selected theoretical and empirical references to the LV topic (volume: approx. 15 pages).

References will be communicated in the course.

The requirements specified by the respective curricula must be met.
