602009 VO Social Philosophy and Political Philosophy I: a critical dictionary
winter semester 2020/2021 | Last update: 07.01.2021 | Place course on memo listDiscussion of important basic concepts of social philosophy and political philosophy; knowledge of crucial discourses and arguments of social philosophy and political philosophy; appreciation of the relevance of this subject area.
Starting with "L for Labor" to "R for Resistance", this lecture focuses successively on a number of philosophically controversial concepts (e.g. democracy, gender, power, race, slavery...) that are implicitly or explicitly relevant for comprehending the development of social and political philosophy. We will deal with selected debates in the older and more recent history of philosophy, which are examples of how important it is (again today) to critically reflect on such concepts.
The course documents are discussed (in a lecture hall and online) on a weekly basis and published in OLAT.
Written at the end of term.
Will be announced from lecture to lecture.
