602014 SE Ethics II: Ethical problems in the current pandemic
winter semester 2020/2021 | Last update: 27.08.2020 | Place course on memo listintimate knowledge of ethics as well as the capability of analyzing, interrelating and reflecting it; advanced philosophical reasoning.
In this seminar we will work on ethical problems of the current pandemic situation:
the complexity of balancing goods and fundamental rights; information uncertainty and the precautionary principle; equal human dignity for all and the duties arising from it; euthanasia; media ethics in times of crisis; ethics of political leadership; ethics of scientific expertise; ethics of political antagonism; self-love/charity and moral motivation; ethical questions in connection with research on biohazards; ethical considerations relating to vaccinations; infectious diseases and xenophobia/racism; the responsibility and role of international organisations; “crime and punishment”.
