Interactive review of selected topics from the field of the lecture; exploration of the interrelation between language and violence by the analyse of specific examples e.g. dealing with 

• Verbal aggression: cursing, ranting, insulting, directives, impoliteness
• Language of power: language politics and ideologies, institutional violence, medical communication
• Violence in the media
• Discourses of violence and gender

Preparatory reading and discussion of relevant texts, exemplary analysis of examples, short presentations
