Competence to independently develop, analyze, present and develop complex subject-related, methodical and theoretical questions in connection with archives, literary history and cultural memory.

The seminar offers the opportunity to get to know and critically reflect on selected theoretical texts on the subject of archive, memory and cultural memory. Here we deal with the positions of Aleida Assmann, Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Dietmar Schenk, Wolfgang Ernst. The examination of the theoretical discourses that, among other things, have led to an archival turn will be deepened in further steps with a view to the specific archive work or the real holdings of the Brenner archive by dealing with the archive as a "place" where tradition is preserved as well as formed and Pictures of the past as well as narratives of memory are created.
