612030 VU Selected Topics of Literary Studies: Russian Lyrics: the Feminine Way - from Achmatova to Stepanova
winter semester 2020/2021 | Last update: 12.01.2021 | Place course on memo listStudents will deal with the laws of Russian poetry, get to know the most important female poets in Russia in the 20th and 21st centuries and are able to analyse the selected poetic texts and reflect on their historical context.
The poems of Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva are - quite rightly - famous beyond the borders of their country, but less well known are the female lyrical voices of the late Soviet and post-Soviet epoch, such as Elena Shvarc and Maria Stepanova.
In this course we will explore the laws of the Russian poetic language on the basis of selected lyrical works, we will examine (and question) the specifically female "tone" of these poems and last but not least we will take into account their historical (or contemporary) context.
