Explanation of exercises, which are theory-based

Contents: presentation of the contents of the course

A) The subject of the course is therapeutic back training with a focus on Sports Sciences and Physiotherapy in a 5-step model approach, in theory and practice. Theory is based on functional anatomy and training theory.

-     Step 1 - Mobilization: breathing exercises, stretching exercises and active relaxation exercises based on Feldenkrais to improve body awareness

-    Step 2 – Trunk stabilization: specific strengthening exercises to stabilize the lumbar and thoracic spine

-    Step 3 – Leg-axis stabilization: specific strengthening and stretching exercises to stabilize the hip, knee and ankle joints

-    Step 4 – Stabilization of the shoulder girdle: specific strengthening and stretching exercises to stabilize the shoulder girdle and shoulder joint

-    Step 5 – Whole-body stabilization: coordinative stabilization exercises with the Pezziball and other training devices

 

B) Explanation of exercises – the exercises are explained in detail (correct starting position, proper execution of exercises, dosage of the exercises, what may go wrong and advice on how to correct it) to increase their effectiveness and to reduce the risk of injuries.

 

Methods: lecture, active student participation, short presentations…

Theory-based practical exercises which also have to be performed by the students

Assessment: must be known at the time of the first class

15 minutes of practical teaching on an assigned topic. Additionally, students prepare a handout which illustrates and describes the exercises in detail
