Acquisition of competences and a critical attitude in dealing with historical sources and representations of history as well as the ability to present the newly-acquired knowledge in oral and/or written form; acquisition of the competent use of relevant scientific methods.

Reading and evaluation of historical sources and representations of a period and/or of a part of history; identification of the  formulation of questions in history, historical representation and narratives; reading and evaluation of historiographical texts and analysis of their suitability as historical sources.

Reading, oral presentations and handout, written paper, discussion; teacher's lecture.

Course with continuous performance assessment: attendance at all sessions, regular and active participation in discussions, oral presentation and handout, paper (max. 5 pages).

Will be announced in the first lesson.

Before attending this course it is recommended to complete the VO3 Basiswissen (basic knowledge) from the respective core subject.

The course is held in English language. Students may answer questions in German and oral presentations as well as written papers may be held in German.
