Basic Information concerning transcultural and interreligious studies, a first insight into Worldviews in a historical context

The main focus of this lecture consists of the development and explanation of the terms transculturality and interreligion, alongside the basics of inter- and transcultural learning. The course takes a step by step approach towards exegesis (an integral part of understanding religious texts). In connection with world views (ways in which to view the world) terms like memory, culture of memory, alongside the importance of rituals (Intitiations, reinforcing rituals, welcoming and passing rites of different religions) and culture of acknowledgement. This also incudes the Interaction with "soft terms" such as compassion, forgivness and solidarity. In favor of existential learning this is also connected to the question of the self and the other. What is one's self and what is the other? What aspects of one's self are foreign, and which elements of the foreign are intrinsic to me. A central aspectof inter- and transcultural learning is a reflecting interaction with Euro- and ethnocentrisms. This course also concerns itself with the own and foreign in relation to one's religious home. At the same time inter- and transcultural learning is reviewed in regard with identity created through variety and most recent developments of radicaization, betraying one's own religion.

The lecture is spported with visual material and excursions to a mosque, a synagoge, an Alevi Cemevi and a jewish graveyard.
