-      to be familiar with the theory and research regarding English for specific purposes (ESP)

-      to be familiar with the characteristics of ESP and ESP teaching principles

-      to gain practical ideas for conducting effective ESP lessons

-      to be able to select and develop meaningful activities suitable for the teaching of ESP in the school context, appropriate for the needs, interests and level of their learners

-      to be able to discuss relevant ESP research and moderate a discussion

This course offers an overview of the theory and underlying concepts of teaching English for Specific Purposes. Students will discuss the latest research in this field and its implications for teaching ESP in the school context. Students will learn methods and strategies for planning and implementing ESP instruction and will critically analyse ESP teaching materials.

Positiv absolviertes Pflichtmodul 1 des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch.

Diese LV ist dem Pflichtmodul 2 („Kompetenzorientierter Fremdsprachenunterricht“) des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch zugeordnet. Dem Studienverlauf folgend wird empfohlen, PM2a vor PM2b zu absolvieren.
