In-depth knowledge of the theoretical foundations of history didactics such as historical and political competencies, basic concepts etc. as well as the central importance of didactic principles such as lifeworld reference and subject orientation, present and future orientation or science orientation for competence-oriented history teaching and political education.

Development of the ability to implement theoretical and methodological knowledge in practical lesson planning and with regard to the competence-oriented oral examination and pre-scientific work (VWA). Students are able to independently draw up an annual plan and plan teaching modules and longitudinal sections. Furthermore, they can prepare students for the VWA and for the competence-oriented oral examination by means of appropriate instructions and tasks.

Concretisation of the historical-didactic foundations; elaboration of the central importance of didactic principles such as the relationship to lifeworld and subject orientation, present and future orientation or science orientation for competence-oriented history teaching and political education. Students learn how didactic principles help to select learning contents as well as teaching-learning methods and subject-specific working techniques to be applied in history teaching and political education.

Elaboration of teaching modules on selected topics, development of methodological guidelines for the deconstruction of sources and representations and preparation of learners for the pre-scientific work and the competence-oriented oral examination.

Lecture, reading, discussion, presentation by the students, reflection.

Classes with continuous performance assessment: attendance at all sessions, regular and active participation in discussions, oral presentation and handout, didactic seminar paper (min. 10 pages).
