Students get a basic overview about the gendered body in antiquity and insights into current theories about "gender and body". They also acquire skills for analyzing ancient literature from a historical point of view.
Ancient narratives of femininity, manliness and the gendered body are discussed on basic of ancient literature (in translation) and of research literature.
Lecture, possibilty for discussion
Written test at the end of the term.
