Students have obtained skills in working with Visual History. Moreover, they are trained in scientific research methods (concerning scientific literature as well as sources). They have got an awareness of methodological approaches, a training for participation in ongoing scientific discourse and in didactically suitable forms of presenting results of research as well as a consolidation of historical knowledge about the mentioned period of time and its specific problems.

After first attempts of pictured postcards in the eighteenth century, different forms of such cards became more frequent and popular in the cause of the latter half of the nineteenth and especially in the twentieth century. The pictures on the postcards were connected with the practice of fotographers, who travelled through the country in search of interesting motives like villages, city districts or streets, people, war events. By these, they wanted to express something special.

We will use this aspect for our analyses. By the medium of postcards we will ask about what, at which time and context, in which city or country was seen to be peculiar - and embed it in a broader context. Thereby, we will explore the field of Visual History - that is not only to deal with the motives, but also with techniques and the socio-economical background.

Preparing and discussing of scientific texts, analysing sources, interactive oral presentations and written paper.

The students are expected to take actively part in discussions, present their own topics and hand in a paper.

Research of literature is part of the students' tasks.

Positive assessment of compulsory module 1. The respective proof ought to be produced until the end of October 2020.
