The students know about
- the vegetation of Central Europe,
- the Alps as a habitat and "natural laboratory" of evolution, various aspects of natural and anthropogenic flora and vegetation changes,
- the ecology of the tree line,
- neophytes as a conservation problem and its management
Geography, geology and climate of the Alps; evolution, systematics and biogeography of alpine species groups; climate or anthropogenically induced vegetation changes during the Ice Age and the Holocene; influence of environmental factors on tree growth at the timberline.
