The correct use and understanding of toxicological terms and a raised awareness of continuosly necessary re-evaluation and documentation according to updated standards of knowledge is imparted. Using examples, knowledge of phsiological and biochemical/molecular correlations of toxicological prosesses is aquired.

Theoretical foundations of toxicology: Definition of toxicological terms: Liberation, absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination of toxic compounds via phase-I,-phase-II metabolism: enzymatical systems and biochemical mechanisms responsible for conversion and degradation. In detail: examples of microbiological toxins (bacteria, fungal and algae) and their molecular mode of action.
