Visibility of traditional and current, structual and symbolic barriers for women in science / biology

Contents:

In this seminar the harder conditions for women in the history of science will be elucidated by analysing historic bibliographies as well as current CVs. By comparison we will identify traditional and current, structual and symbolic barriers for women in science in order to find possible solutions and encouragement.

Methods:

The topics for the seminar will be hand out online. The participants will prepare their presentations autonomously based on provided literature but if needed in close contact with the lecturer. The presentations will be held during two days and comprehensively discussed.

Initial essay, presentation, participation in discussions and final exam will be assessed.

Assessment:

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"

Essay: topic will be provided after registration of students
