The course introduces students to the scientifically tested mindfulness-based self-leadership training.

By applying mindfulness methods and self-leadership strategies, students learn to handle university pressure and performance situations with confidence. The students learn to prepare for exams in a goal-oriented manner and at the same time to lower their stress and anxiety levels by means of mindfulness exercises and specific relaxation techniques. Students are able to apply practical strategies to increase self-efficacy and critically examine their thought and behavior patterns. Students learn the basics of a successful goal setting strategy and learn to increase their effectiveness. In addition, students learn to cope with everyday life in a relaxed way through various exercises. The aim is to teach performance-enhancing, application-oriented methods that train a healthy self-regulation ability for students in examination and pressure contexts.

Mindfulness exercises and self-management strategies are conveyed through lectures and group work and are practiced in the course. Each lecture consists of a theoretical part and a practical exercise part. The participants are guided to independently develop an improved handling of stress and performance situations. In addition, students learn to critically analyze their own behaviour patterns during stress and performance situations. The regular application of mindfulness and self-regulation exercises in everyday life and the keeping of a training diary will ensure a practical transfer to different contexts.
