perceive the milestones in the historical development of the deaf culture, with a special focus on German-language history;
define the effects of these historical developments on the current situation of the deaf, with a particular focus on the realities of life in German-speaking countries;
get to know the cultural characteristics of the deaf identity in different areas of everyday life;
explain the differences between this cultural expression and the prevailing national culture;
become aware of the generation conflicts within the deaf culture;
get to know selected modern trends in deaf culture;
explain the structure and importance of deaf organizations at national and international level.
History and development of the deaf culture and it's impact on on the current situation of the deaf
people today
Deaf identity and deaf culture in different areas (e.g. performing arts, theater, deaf clubs, sport) and differences from the prevailing national culture
Generational conflicts in the deaf culture
