Students have a systematic understandig of the
- physical processes of anthropogenic climate change
- social and ecological implications of climate change and measures to its reduction and adaptation
- resulting necessity of societal transformation
Students are able to support teachers and autonomously convey their gained understanding to their peers or to younger people
During this course interested students are prepared to accomany pupils in their climate or sustainability projects, both, concerning content and didactics. They are to be mediators between schools and universities, and therefore contribute with their own competences and by cooperation with scientists
- basic scientific knowledge on climate change, the relationship between human activities and the natural environment and climate change communication
- practical exercises within the group and with pupils and teachers in schools
- practical exercises for the preparation of a CO2 balance
Problem and Project-based learning
Students will be confronted with an authentic problem about a climate change and deal with it using the same methods they later apply in the practical part of the course. New knowledge and new relevant skills are aquired in a self-responsible way. Students learn autonomously, but are provided with necessary resources.
