Gain insight into the diverse forms of Islam in European context. Awareness of the plurality of identities, beliefs and lifeworlds of Muslims. Analysis and discussion of current religious and social issues and problem areas of Muslims in Europe

is there a "single" form of Islam? Is there such a thing as "the Muslim" identity? How do Muslims in Europe practice their religion? What does it mean to be a Muslim in Europe? Is Islam compatible with the "European" values? Which problem and conflict areas emerge? The seminar deals with the worlds of belief and life, cultures, identities, rituals, questions and problem areas of Muslims as a religious minority in Europe, and with their relationships with non-Muslims. It also addresses tension areas such as radicalization, gender issues, and Islamophobia.
