The students know the most important current discourses in urban planning, architectural history and construction history. They know relevant connections and backgrounds and understand the effects of these discourses on global and regional developments.

In addition to the basic lectures Building History 1 and 2, the lecture in the Master's programme focuses on selected aspects of building history and construction history. Based on the development of the different materials stone, wood, iron and concrete, the history of building technology in the 19th and 20th centuries is presented. Special interest is given to the processes of planning and execution, i.e. the art of making between creativity and routine, between craft and science, between invention, innovation and tradition.

The lecture is held virtually every week, participation in the form of short film contributions is expected and serves as a basis for grading.

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
