Students possess advanced knowledge of the theoretical fundamentals of digital signal processing. In particular they are familiar with the spectral properties of discrete time systems. They understand that sampling of continuous signals in the time domain does not necessarily lead to loss of information.

Sampling theorem; Fundamentals of analog-to-digital conversion; Discrete Fourier transform (DFT); Fast Fourier transform (FFT); Data analysis windows; Digital systems; Discrete convolution; Z-transform; Fundamentals of digital filters; Synthesis of finite impulse response (FIR-) filters: Windowing, frequency sampling; Synthesis of infinite impulse response (IIR-) filters: Impulse invariance method, bilinear transform.

Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.

Written examination
