202112 Classical Philosophy of Religion
summer semester 2021 | Last update: 14.04.2021 | Place course on memo listThe students are going to become acquainted with the philosophical-theological tradition of classical theism in comparison to other views like pantheism, panentheism, theistic personalism or atheism. They will also learn to evaluate some classical arguments for the existence of God.
What or “who” is God? What is the nature of God? Are there sound arguments for the existence of God? What is the relationship between natural theology and Christian faith? We will deal with such questions and evaluate possible answers. There will be special emphasis on the Thomist theory of God.
Short lectures, reading and discussion of texts (depends on “Corona-situation”).
Active participation, oral examination or term papers (depends on “Corona-situation”).
