Recent years have seen a growing interest in the question of embodiment. In our lecture, we will discuss the most important historical and contemporary conceptions of embodiment.

  • Conceptions of embodiment prior to Descartes
  • Cartesian conceptions of embodiment
  • Embodiment in phenomenology
  • Contemporary conceptions of embodiment

Lecture inputs, reading assignments and discussion.

Written or oral exam.

Will be announced during the course.

For BA Philosophie an der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät (C 033 194): positive completion of compulsory module 3.
