222019 SE The Current Focus of Religion - Violence - Communication - World-Order: The Future Church: Charismatic? Evangelical?
summer semester 2021 | Last update: 04.03.2021 | Place course on memo listThe students get to know new charismatic-evangelical movements from their own observation, deal with controversies and specialist literature and find their own assessment.
Do we live in an age of the Holy Spirit? In any case, one thing is certain: the fastest growing proportions in Christianity worldwide are evangelical and / or Pentecostal-charismatic movements. Now they have also arrived in German-speaking countries, not only in free churches. Some observers speak of an „Evangelical Catholicism“. The aim of this seminar is to come into contact with this development and to gain a theologically justified assessment. All participants should come face to face with these movements at selected locations in order to be able to form an opinion in participant observation and by studying and discussing the relevant literature.
Participant observation of selected charismatic-evangelical events and presentation. Reading of sources and discussion.
Oral (presentation of the observations, participation in the discussion) and written paper.
