Students will acquire a basic knowledge of legal research and writing.

In the course, basic knowledge for the writing of a thesis in the field of civil law will be provided. In particular, the following subject areas will be covered:

  • How to approach a scientific writing project; project planning
  • Academic supervision of a scientific thesis
  • FAQs on the topic of the thesis; methods to find a topic
  • Types of research questions and their formulation
  • Structuring of the thesis in the form of an outline
  • Targeted literature and jurisprudence research, including the use of (legal) databases
  • Legal abbreviation and citation rules
  • Formal components of a thesis
  • Reading, writing and editing techniques
  • Registration and submission of a scientific thesis

The course also offers space for individual questions and feedback on your own texts.

Online-course; live-lectures; individual coaching;

Will be agreed on in the first session.
