Knowledge on banking contracts; specific insurance contracts; insurance supervision law.

Banking contracts: "Banking relationship"; Austrian General Banking Contract Terms; banking secrecy and its (esp. private law) sanctions; bank enquiry; bank consulting service; specific banking transactions(credits and loans; deposit business; leasing; factoring).

Insurance law: European and Austrian statutary sources of insurance supervision law; the Austrian Financial Market Supervision Authority and its main instruments; specific branches of insurance business and their peculiar General Insurance Contract Terms; recent court decisions.

lecture mixed with case studies and group work; optionally students' presentations

continuous assessment (based on regular oral contribution by participants) plus written test or oral examination (depending on number of participants).

Basic knowledge of insurance contract law desirable for the second part of the VU

For the course form "VU" as a "course with examination-immanent character", attendance is compulsory according to § 5 paragraph 3 line 7 in connection with § 7 paragraph 2 line 6 lit b of the study law part of the statutes. Absence of up to three excuses is tolerated; repeated absence without excuse results in a negative assessment of the course.
