Students acquire basic knowledge of the statistical methods used in empirical data analyses.
This seminar provides students with knowledge in quantitative methods for the investigation of central questions in the area of individual voting behaviour and party competition. The aim of the course is to enable the participants to conduct independent empirical analyses using the statistical software R. The main topics of the course are univariate, bivariate, and quantitative methods. Central topics of the proseminar are univariate, bivariate and first multivariate analysis methods as well as the graphical and tabular presentation of the empirical results.
Interactive style of teaching
Independent empirical analysis of a substantively relevant research question in the form of a short project paper (approximately 4,000 words).
