VO Introduction to Educational Science

The students understand basic educational concepts and basic theoretical approaches as well as the main lines of the history of educational science. On the basis of this knowledge they are able to differentiate the everyday understanding of pedagogical processes from a scientific point of view. They have an overview of the basic historical development lines of education and “Bildung” and they are able to understand and to explain current problems of education in their historical genesis.

Overview of central issues, problems and concepts of educational science, theoretical concepts, approaches and research methods in critical recourse to the history and structure of the discipline of educational science.

Lecture with questions and discussions

Written exam, which consists of open 5 questions to the lecture's contents.

Appointed day for exam is June 22nd, to be taken online.

Basis readings are provided in OLAT and collected at the "Semesterapparat" no. 117 (course section) at the university library.
