The participants know the field of extra-curricula Youth Work and the specific possibilities and challenges of this field of non-formal learning and teaching.

The seminar will focus on gendersensitive padagogy and provide an overview of different approaches and methods. We will also reflect our own gendered socialization and discuss its influence on the pedagogical work. The aim of the seminar is to enable the participants to analyze the role gender plays in the pedagogical work and to react consciously.

The Seminar gives an overview of the field of extra-curricula Youth Work and processes of non-formal education.

The seminar will focus on different approaches on gender-sensitive pedagogy (girls work, boys work, crosswork). We will discuss the pros and cons of strategies and methods such as same sex groups or dramatization of gender. We will further engage with new developments of feminist theory and discuss their consequences for the practical pedagogical work.

The seminar will also provide space and practical exercises for reflecting one's own gendered socialization, since this is fundamental to gender-sensitive pedagogy.
