This course provides an introductory overview of the field of German Linguistics. It presents major topics, theories and research questions of Linguistics and will present central concepts and key terms for each of the following fields: Phonetics & Phonology, Graphemics, Morphology, Semantics and Pragmatics. Theories and research findings about the systemic character of language as well as its usage will be discussed.

Note: The course will be held in presence, if the circumstances allow it. If the Corona restrictions do not permit attendance in presence, courses will take place in the virtual classroom (OLAT).
Update on 05.02.2021: The course will start in virtual format via OLAT in the virtual classroom and will be switched to face-to-face teaching during the semester if the situation should improve.
