The course focuses on the multimodality of media communication in the field of science communication. In science communication, one is faced with the task of presenting complex topics in a comprehensible and appealing way. Depending on the media environment, different semiotic resources and communicative procedures are used for this purpose, which we will illuminate in the course on the basis of individual detailed analyses. After an introduction to the basics of multimodality research, the focus will be on exemplary analyses of different media formats of science communication (explainer videos, podcasts, journals, etc.), which we will work on together in the course.
