This seminar introduces the empirical analysis of linguistic structures and functions at different levels, with emphasis on metaphorical patterns.
The seminar focuses on two basic strands of metaphor research: a detailed analysis of linguistic patterns and research into the ideological use of metaphor in specific genres such as political, media and business discourses.
The seminar employes corpus-lingustic methods.
Regular and active participation (reading assignments, presentation in groups) in online sessions and a term paper at the end of the semester
