summer semester 2021 | Last update: 10.03.2021 | Place course on memo listParticipants will broaden their knowledge on Belarus, particularly in the fields of language and culture, history, society and politics
The Russian Center and the Department for Slavonic Studies have responded to the call of the German Society for Eastern European Studies (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde - DGO) to show solidarity with Belarusian scholars who are currently no longer able to research and teach due to political repression. Thus, we have invited the cultural scientist Liliya Ilyushyna, who worked at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts in Minsk until 2020, to give a cultural studies lecture in Russian about Belarus – a country little known and noticed in Western Europe so far.
The course is offered as a lecture at the Department for Slavonic Studies and offers students as well as external participants who have at least a receptive B1-level command of Russian the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Belarus. In the individual lecture units Liliya Ilyushyna will talk about language policy in Belarus and the Belarusian language, about literature, culture and history, as well as about social and socio-political topics. And, of course, the current protests as well as the peculiarities of the protest culture in Belarus 2020 will be discussed.
Lectures, questions and contributions to the discussions from the participants
Regular and active attendance, written exam (multiple choice)
Lists for further reading will be provided for each topic.
