Major topics are the mural paintings and icons. The monuments in focus start with the so-called Middle Byzantine Era of the 11th and 12th c., with highlights in Northern Macedonia, like in Ohrid, Nerezi or Kurbinovo, which are representative for the Constantinopolitan art of their time. Bulgarian of middle and late Byzantine painting, as in Bachkovo or Bojana, are treasures of art on the Balcans. An important art historical highlight are the murals of the famous monasteries of Moldavia. The seminary serves as a preparation of the excursion to the Balcans.
