The participants gain a general view on how the general public perceives music from other cultures. In the course a number of  theoretical approachs to this topic will be presented.

We have got used to listen to foreign music on radios. In contrary, the mass media diffuse little information regarding such music and the question arrises, how does the public perceive this music. How much background knowledge on this music is necessary, that it can cna be appreciatted and treassured by the unfamiliar public.
