Students are able to

• reflect upon various factors of diversity in EFL classroom settings such as multilingualism, intercultural and transcultural learning, mixed ability groups and much more.
• read and critically analyse important research findings on diversity in the foreign language classroom
• evaluate and design tasks and material that consider and target the aforementioned issues.

In this seminar we are going to deal with recent findings in research on diversity in the foreign language classroom. In a mixture of lectures, individual tasks, pair and group work, we are going to discuss and reflect upon the scope of these factors and think about how learning and teaching English is influenced by diversity. One focus of this seminar is going to be the evaluation and design of currently used and new material for teaching, keeping important factors of diversity in mind.

We are going to discuss important secondary literature in the first session of our seminar. A list is going to be put on OLAT.

Positiv absolviertes Pflichtmodul 1 des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch.

Diese LV ist dem Pflichtmodul 2 („Kompetenzorientierter Fremdsprachenunterricht“) des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch zugeordnet. Dem Studienverlauf folgend wird empfohlen, PM2a vor PM2b zu absolvieren.
