summer semester 2021 | Last update: 12.02.2021 | Place course on memo listThe acquisition of basic skills in dealing with sources and literature, especially in ancient history.
The lecture gives an introduction to aspects of daily life in the Roman world from the 2nd century BC to late antiquity. Different sources (texts, inscriptions, pictures, architecture) give an impression on aspects of daily life: i.a. family life, education, professions, eating, clothing, living conditions, religion or sports. The question of gender-specific patterns in everyday life in antiquity also plays an important role (gender studies).
Combination of lecture, guided reading, short presentations and group work.
Exercises, participation, written paper.
Relevant literature will be announced during the course.
