summer semester 2021 | Last update: 24.11.2020 | Place course on memo listExpansion and consolidation of specific knowledge in the field of Austrian history, taking into account current tendencies and controversies of research. The students will be able to develop a scientific question, to research for that problem and to present it. They are able to discuss critical arguments and to compose a standard text on the chosen subject.
In the general consciousness, the year 1848 is associated at best with a revolution in the spring and a victory of reaction in the fall. Far too little is remembered as the birth of parliamentarism and the development of the print media. The course aims to analyze the events of the year by means of newspapers from Vienna and the "provinces" of the Habsburg Empire.
