Understanding the theoretical foundations of modern cosmology and their application to relevant examples
Theoretical approach to Cosmology, with discussions and deepening of the course content by practise work.
Basic concepts, Robertson-Walker Metrik, distance scales, Friedmann equation and solutions, age & size of the Universe.
Early Universe: Thermodynamical aspects, Boltzmann equation, 'relics' of the Big Bang, inflationary models, 'dark energy'.
Matter in the Universe: 'Dark matter', fluctuations in the microwave background, large-scale structure, structure formation.
